Protect Free Speech!
Hello friends and subscribers,
Paywalls and subscriptions protect copyrights – and you!
Things that are “free” on the Internet are never really free. Someone is paying for the content and doesn’t want you to know who. That’s because if you aren’t paying subscriptions, you are paying with – yourself!
All our buying, browsing, viewing habits are compiled and sold to corporations which learn about our “interests,” tailor our viewing to their algorithms and sell us more.
That’s why in the Labyrinth Times, you will see quotations and references to articles that may interest you – but not the entire article. We subscribe to the periodicals we quote – and we encourage you to do the same.
Even more important: Copyright protections – and reader subscriptions – are essential to defend the integrity of the public square. In spite of its faults and compromises, the American tradition of a free press depends on curated, edited publications and online media that rigorously respect traditional standards of accuracy, verifiable fact-based reporting and philosophically, morally sound reasoning.
Without this, the manipulators will drown us in illusion and insanity.
Best wishes,
